Welcome to the Social Commentators Group of dA!

Mon Apr 11, 2005, 7:02 PM
The Social Commentators Group is a dA Group created for the purpose of making known problems you have with society. This is not a Gothic, Emo, Punk, Rebel-Against-The-World group, this is a group that promotes change. As the founder, I, (~UmBReLLa-Inc), decided that I couldn't find enough depth or rebellion in the poetry, prose, and just art in general found through browsing. Therefore, being one that wishes the most efficient means of finding what I want, and being the greedy little deviant that I am, decided to make a group that I could browse quickly and easily. So, with any interest to join, note ~UmBReLLa-Inc. Here are the general parameters:

You must submit a link to an entrance sample of your drawings, paintings, poetry, prose, etc. This will be reviewed by me, or, in the future, one of the recruiters. This piece of art will be critiqued. What this group is looking for is deep work, not surface-art. Contained within should be a story. The picture should paint a thousand words, the poem should paint a thousand more, and the prose should make a novel on a shelf. Don't worry, though, because if it doesn't make the cake I or one of the recruiters will help to achieve the level required.

In addition to having depth to your work, it must, of course, be social commentary. This doesn't mean it should say, "Oh, my girlfriend dumped me, so I'm gonna kill every girl I meet now." It should be an in-depth stating of a problem, something that will make people rethink what they've been doing.

When sending a note including a link to this work, include a short summary of the thought-process behind your work as well as what it means to you. This description isn't meant to be all-to-personal. Not like "oh my girlfriend dumped me so I wrote this to show my hatred of women. oh but she was beautiful... she--" none of that. I just want to know why you did what you did, sort of like a summary in art class.

Finally, this club is NOT meant to be some uber-goth movement, not meant to be a bunch of crying nannys that want to take over the world because they can't have a new BMW for Christmas.

This being a synopsis of the group, if you wanna join, just note me, , with these parameters included.
